Marble Maintenance & Restoration
Stone has always been recognized for its natural beauty and its value as a durable building material. It has also come into its own in recent years as a decorative means to welcome visitors to the lobbies, reception and public areas of office buildings, hotels, and individual tenant suites. Designers have used it on the floor, walls and other areas they wish to accent. Marble and granite surfaces abound in our business world today.
Stone, like any other surface, must be maintained in order to retain its appearance. Cleaning, buffing, polishing or honing are all means of stone surface maintenance. The key to stone maintenance, like any other program, is to provide regularity of appropriate service consistent with the traffic, usage and priority of the area’s surface. In other words – design a program that responds to the conditions that exists, monitor that program and adjust it as required to meet the changing needs as they develop. Soils, spills and gritty particulate matter can all damage your significant investment.
Surfaces that have been subjected to severe traffic without interim processing may require honing. This is a specialized process that will remove the surface defects. After honing, the surface is then polished to restore the glossy and attractive appearance. Subsequent maintenance processing is less aggressive and is designed to retain a level appearance.
